New Musical Express: 26-07-1980
The New Musical Express (better known as the NME) is a popular music magazine in the United Kingdom which has been published weekly since March 1952.
In the early years of the Yellow Magic Orchestra, the New Musical Express published
a 1½ page Y.M.O. article. Fortunately, a copy of this issue has been found. This article
has now been scanned, cleaned up and made available. Definitely a rare treat for fans
and an interesting insight into the minds of these three talented musicians, though it has
to be said that NME could of done with a spellchecker ;)

are a Japanese electropop band formed in Tokyo in 1978, known for pioneering the electropop music genre. The principal members are Haruomi Hosono (bass), Yukihiro Takahashi (drums and vocals) and Ryuichi Sakamoto (keyboards).
The band was conceived as a one-off studio project by Hosono, the other two members being recruited session musicians - the idea was to produce an album fusing orientalist exotica (of their cover version of Martin Denny's Firecracker) with modern electronics. However, the first album with its cutting-edge production was very popular, and the studio project grew into a fully fledged touring band and career for its
three members. However, after releasing various albums (both studio and live) over a five year period, Y.M.O. sadly dissolved in 1983. During the eighties and early nineties they continued with their solo careers, but in 1993 they temporarily reformed & released a new album and a follow up concert (Technodon Live) at the Tokyo Dome. Fifteen years later in 2008, they surprised fans and the music press by appearing live at the Royal Festival Hall, London, before a final concert in Gijon, Spain.
